Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs, including goals related to literacy, math, communication skills, and behavioral health
  • Design and deliver dynamic lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles and evidence-based teaching strategies for Junior High Age Students
  • Utilize classroom management techniques to create a positive, structured learning environment that promotes engagement and minimizes disruptions
  • Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to integrate speech therapy and behavioral health interventions into daily activities
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and inform instructional adjustments
  • Provide tutoring and mentoring support to reinforce learning objectives and build confidence among students with disabilities or developmental delays
  • Maintain detailed and timely records of student progress, IEP implementation, behavioral management strategies, and communication with families

Qualifications

  • Proven classroom experience working with 7-9th grade student in special education settings or related environments
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development, early intervention techniques, and behavior management strategies
  • Experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, hearing impairments (deaf education), or other special needs including speech therapy integration
  • Familiarity with curriculum development for literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, therapists, and support staff
  • Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate behavioral health practices and early childhood education principles
  • Certification or licensure in special education or relevant fields preferred; ongoing professional development in behavioral therapy or library services is a plus
