</li></ul>Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
<ul><li>Provides and coordinates the instructional program for students in the assigned area of responsibility, and evaluates results on a continuous basis.
</li><li>Plans and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet student&rsquo;s individual needs, considering such factors as physical, emotional, and educational levels of development.
</li><li>Convenes and chairs Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. Develops and implements student IEP goals and instruction based on individual student needs.
</li><li>Participates in the implementation of health care procedures in accordance with administrative operating procedures.
</li><li>Develops, coordinates, and implements student behavior support plans in accordance with District policy, administrative operating procedures, and state/federal rules and regulations. Convenes a team to evaluate and develop a functional behavioral assessment as needed.
</li><li>Works cooperatively and communicates with District and constituent district staff, students, and parents/guardians.
</li><li>Maintains accurate records and appropriate reports.
</li><li>Participates in district-level staff meetings, in-service activities, staff development/special programs, school improvement teams, and planning committees as appropriate to the assignment.
</li><li>Regularly document student progress using assessment tools, monitoring through observations/evaluation, and/or collecting data. Uses student progress data to improve instruction.
</li><li>Develops a program that includes a variety of learning activities, small group and individualized activities; collaborates with other related service providers regarding activities for assigned students.
</li><li>Supervises and implements instruction for students in class; directs the activities of teacher assistants in all areas of instruction as well as other activities.
</li><li>Establishes and maintains open communications with parents, staff, administration and outside agencies.
</li><li>Performs billing functions for Medicaid reimbursement where applicable.
</li><li>Adheres to District health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.
</li><li>Exhibits emotional stability, exercises good judgment, and makes decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines, with minimum supervision.
</li></ul><ul><li>Must have regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
</li><li>Manage student behavior and classroom climate to support students&rsquo; focus on learning
</li><li>Teach District approved curriculum through both direct instruction and inquiry based instruction

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, fractions, percentages, rations, and practical applications.
Physical Demands
Frequently required to stand and talk or hear while sometimes walking and sitting. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent bending, stooping, or getting up and down from the floor is also required.

JUNIOR HIGH TEACHER

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Teachers are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Meridian Public Schools teachers are committed and focused to student centered learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Teaches Math and Science, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education through the lens of project based learning.
</li><li>Develops and administers middle school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
</li><li>Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
</li><li>Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
</li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student&rsquo;s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed.
</li><li>Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other schoolwide learning outcomes such as collaboration, verbal communication, written communication, and agency.
</li><li>Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
</li><li>Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
</li><li>Encourages parental involvement in students&rsquo; education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
</li><li>Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school&rsquo;s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
</li><li>Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
</li><li>Coordinates with other middle school professional staff members, especially within grade level and specific subjects, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
</li><li>Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
</li><li>Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
</li><li>Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
</li><li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
