How You Will Make an Impact
The Paraprofessional serve as a knowledgeable professional in the indicated Education Program and/or related service delivery process. This position will assist appropriate educators in servicing students in the specialized program, which includes, but not limited to: Special Education, Literacy, Sign Language Interpreter, English Language Learner and Career Technical Education. The Paraprofessional complete clerical tasks, performs data entry, completes organizational tasks, and provide tutoring support and/or sign language interpretation to students in the specialized program. This position reports to the Principal or designee. 
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

<ul><li>Assist educators in their instructional duties and other general responsibilities such as organizing and providing tutorial support.
</li><li>Complement instructional activities, such as assisting the teacher during the lesson by helping students who may need additional support with instruction.
</li><li>Supplement instruction by assisting the teacher with individuals or small groups of pupils on follow-up activities as specified.
</li><li>Reinforce instruction by assisting the teacher in administering drill activities for individuals or small groups.
</li><li>Provide additional student support including accommodations and online assessments.
</li><li>Facilitate program implementation and support maintenance efforts such as student. transportation, guest speakers, career fairs, field trips, etc.
</li><li>Alert the educator to student behavior issues or other program challenges.
</li><li>Assist in monitoring and proctoring student assignment and tests.
</li><li>Perform clerical tasks for teachers as needed, to include coordination, scheduling of and participation in meetings when requested.
</li><li>Assist educators in contacting parents or adult students and assists in retrieving required forms.
</li><li>Translate communications between students and teachers.
</li><li>Participate in Student Study Team or other meetings relating to student success.
</li><li>Aid the educator in rendering additional attention or data collection for particular students.
</li><li>Demonstrate willingness to learn and build expertise in relevant content areas.
</li><li>Follow directions for activities involved in the development and implementation of student learning plans.
</li><li>Adhere to attendance policy.
</li></ul>For Sign Language Interpreters:
<ul><li>Assist students in the use of sign language or other non-verbal forms of communication.
</li><li>Assist with the instruction deaf and hard of hearing students, individually or in small groups.
</li><li>Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.
</li></ul>Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
<ul><li>Knowledgeable in the use of standard office computer programs and a variety of educational programs.
</li><li>Excellent understanding of effective tutoring skills and the ability to model these skills.
</li><li>Ability to collaborate with various people to support student learning and development.
</li><li>Ability to work with diverse student and parent populations.
</li><li>Ability to prioritize work, excellent organizational skills, and initiative to improve processes.
</li><li>Ability to work in team environments and with multiple levels of personnel to support student learning and development.
</li><li>Self-sufficient, strong interpersonal skills, and committed to excellent customer service.
</li></ul>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<ul><li>High school diploma or the equivalent, or completion of 60 college credits, or
</li><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution is required or
</li><li>Eligibility to pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction issued by an approved Local education agency in the following areas is preferred.
<ul><li>Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or
</li><li>Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
</li></ul></li><li>Sign Language Interpreter Qualifications: Fluent in sign language, certified by the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent, if providing Cued Speech interpretation, be certified by any certifying body recognized by the National Cued Speech Association (NCSA) is preferred.
</li><li>Proficient level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other educational technology applications.
</li><li>Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
</li><li>Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>High School Graduate required.
</li><li>Minimum one (1) year comparable clerical experience.
</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills along with attention to detail essential.
</li><li>Proficiency in AS400, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power School as required.
</li><li>Must have proven track recorded of positive customer service.
</li><li>Must have the ability to perform secretarial and administrative support functions requiring independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving.
</li><li>Must possess language skills including composition, punctuation, spelling and correct usage.
</li><li>Must have desire to learn new applications / software.
</li><li>Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
</li><li>Must have filing and clerical skills.
</li><li>Must pass proficiency test in Microsoft Word, Excel &amp; Power Point.
</li></ul>REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
SUPERVISES: Students on an as needed basis
JOB GOAL: To provide confidential assistance to the High School Principal and to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the building.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:
<div><ul><li>Must work harmoniously with others to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents and staff members.
</li></ul><ul><li>Must communicate with others regarding building/district policies and procedures and refer requests to appropriate staff member.
</li></ul><ul><li>Prepares various reports, correspondence and other required materials.
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintains pupil accounting records for State Audit.
</li></ul><ul><li>Processes and maintains data and forms pertaining to schedules, grades, etc. and prepares related reports
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintains records and files, including confidential data.
</li></ul><ul><li>Prepares and distributes various passes, etc.
</li></ul><ul><li>Must have the ability to greet visitors, answer inquiries from students and parents, and refer visitors to appropriate staff members in a positive manner.
</li></ul><ul><li>Serves as the primary contact person between the principal and students, teachers, parents, vendors and general public.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists in the coordination of Principal&rsquo;s daily calendar including the appropriate scheduling of appointments.
</li></ul><ul><li>Assists in ordering, distributing and maintaining supplies, materials, etc.
</li></ul><ul><li>Performs related work as pertains to the position responsibilities.
</li></ul><ul><li>Other duties as assigned.
