</h3>POSITIONS : (1) 6.75 Hr. Visually Impaired Special Skills Student Assistant at
Cardinal Elementary (Monday- Friday: 7:50am&ndash; 3:05pm; School Year only) 
PAYRATE: $16.68 hourly 
Q UALIFICATIONS:
These individuals will follow one student to multiple areas. This position must also have the ability to learn and demonstrate an understanding of Braille in accordance with National Library Service standards. Must be Highly Qualified per the Department of Education. 
Training will be provided to a candidate who does not know braille by the VI/TC Visually Impaired Teacher Consultant (VITC). The VI/TC will also provide software instruction in order for the candidate to use the embossing machine and other relevant software. 
SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED:

</li><li>Work collaboratively with student&rsquo;s team including: VI/TC, Case manager, ancillary staff, and other assistants in order to identify and meet student needs related to accessibility.
</li><li>Ability to participate in professional development opportunities to advance braille skills beyond basic levels. This may include participation in the braille program offered by the National Library Service at no charge to the participant
</li><li>Ability to transcribe materials including books, workbooks, testing material, and classroom work for students with visual impairments
</li><li>Maintain accurate records of all transcripts
</li><li>Maintain a properly labeled file folder on all materials, which should be retained for future use
</li><li>Manage time so as to complete transcriptions as they are needed by consultants
</li><li>Make necessary adaptations of materials for students with visual impairments in conjunction with teacher(s)
</li><li>Remain current in relevant computer technology
</li><li>Maintain a resource file for locating alternative sources of braille materials

How You Will Make an Impact
The Paraprofessional serve as a knowledgeable professional in the indicated Education Program and/or related service delivery process. This position will assist appropriate educators in servicing students in the specialized program, which includes, but not limited to: Special Education, Literacy, Sign Language Interpreter, English Language Learner and Career Technical Education. The Paraprofessional complete clerical tasks, performs data entry, completes organizational tasks, and provide tutoring support and/or sign language interpretation to students in the specialized program. This position reports to the Principal or designee.
