Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in science and social studies, incorporating innovative learning technology and creative writing techniques.
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management, behavior management strategies, and inclusive teaching practices tailored to diverse learners, including students with special education needs.
- Assess student progress regularly using standardized testing methods and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, integrating AP style writing, literacy education, and library services to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Mentor students through academic advising, tutoring sessions, and extracurricular activities such as sports coaching or physical education classes.
- Utilize effective communication skills for public speaking, parent-teacher conferences, and community engagement to promote student success.
- Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, student assessments, and classroom activities while adhering to Chicago Manual of Style guidelines for educational documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification for middle school grades preferred.
- Proven classroom experience working with children in grades 7 and 8 within private or public school settings.
- Strong knowledge of science topics including biology, chemistry, physics (trigonometry, geometry, calculus), and social studies content such as history and geography.
- Demonstrated skills in curriculum development, lesson planning, copy editing, proofreading, and standardized testing preparation.
- Experience with learning technology tools, educational software, and innovative teaching methods like Montessori or childhood development strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students and collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques, special education accommodations, and classroom management best practices.
