8th grade Science and Social Studies Teacher

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 8th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in curriculum development, classroom management, and student-centered instruction. As a teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts and historical perspectives while encouraging critical thinking and curiosity about the world around them.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for both science and social studies.
  • Teach key 8th grade science concepts such as physical science, earth science, and the scientific method.
  • Teach social studies topics including U.S. history, civics, geography, and historical analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Provide individualized instruction, support, and tutoring when necessary.
  • Manage classroom activities and maintain a structured, positive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall learning experience.
  • Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to educate, motivate, and inspire middle school students.
  • Effective classroom management techniques.
  • Experience working with students of various ages, backgrounds, and learning abilities.
  • Knowledge of literacy strategies that support reading and writing in science and social studies.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and academic assessments.
  • Understanding of child development and student well-being.
  • Previous experience in educational or youth learning environments preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,300.00 - $72,000.00 per year
