911 Dispatcher (Full-Time)

Lake County Central Dispatch (LCCD) is currently seeking applicants for a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. Dispatchers serve as the first point of contact for community members requesting assistance. This position determines location and priority of emergencies, relays information between callers and first responders, and provides assistance with non-emergency calls in a variety of ways. LCCD is a 24/7 operation, so applicants must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call. While experience is appreciated, there is a mandatory training. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to accurately and efficiently receive, record, and dispatch information along with proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Must possess high-level interpersonal skills to respond to callers during of difficult or stressful situations.
• Maintain effective contacts with responders and other personnel, and work cooperatively with others.
• Must be able to remain calm under stress.
• Must be able to maintain focus and a professional demeanor in emergency situations.
• Must possess strong analytical abilities, and able to provide precise directions or instructions.

Basic skills testing, typing, and general aptitude testing are required for all candidates. Pre-employment background investigations, including criminal background checks, drug screening, and physicals, are required.
