911 Public Safety Telecommunicator-NIGHT SHIFT

The term public safety telecommunicator is used to describe those communications professionals who perform call taking and dispatching duties. A public safety telecommunicator may be assigned to call taking only, dispatching only or may perform both functional responsibilities. Desired characteristics include strong communication skills, the ability to exercise good judgement, the ability to operate various computer and telephone equipment, map reading and the ability to multi-task. High school diploma/GED is required. Previous experience in emergency services is preferred but not required.

Some duties may include: receiving emergency calls by telephone, radio system or computer-aided dispatch system, questioning callers to obtain pertinent information to determine an appropriate course of action, creating and maintaining electronic logs of all calls received and preparing reports as necessary. Completion of emergency training and/or certification may also be required.

Webster Parish E-911 Communications is currently accepting applications for a full time 911 telecommunicator. Our 911 telecommunicators work 12 hour shifts following the pitman rotation. The current listing is for night shift (6p-6a), but the training will take place on a daytime shift.

STARTING PAY: $12.77 hourly.

  • Week One: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun.
  • Week Two : Wed, Thurs
  • This schedule continues throughout the month.
  • Day shift = 0600-1800
  • Night shift = 1800-0600

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Typing: 5 years (Required)
  • Emergency Dispatchers: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer service: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Shift availability:

  • Must be available to work any shift

Work Location: In person. This is NOT a remote position
