AC Mechanic

Educational Requirements:

Minimum Qualification:

10th or 12th standard pass (depending on employer requirements)

Preferred Technical Education:

ITI / Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

Vocational training in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)

Additional Certifications (optional but valuable):

EPA / R-410A or equivalent refrigerant handling certification (in some countries)

Safety and electrical maintenance certification

HVAC Technician Certification (from recognized institutions)

Basic computer or control systems knowledge (for modern HVAC systems)

Skills Required:

Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and thermodynamics

Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, and control systems

Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults

Familiarity with tools like gauges, vacuum pumps, multimeters, etc.

Good communication and customer service skills

Physical fitness and ability to work in various environments (indoors/outdoors)

2. Roles and Responsibilities

Installation:

Install air conditioning systems (split, window, ductable, VRV/VRF, etc.)

Set up refrigerant lines, drainage, and wiring connections

Ensure units are correctly mounted, aligned, and sealed

Maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance

Clean filters, coils, condensers, and evaporators

Check refrigerant levels and refill as needed

Inspect electrical connections and controls

Repair and Troubleshooting:

Diagnose problems (mechanical, electrical, or refrigerant-related)

Repair or replace faulty components (compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, etc.)

Leak testing and sealing refrigerant systems

Test operation after repair and ensure performance meets specifications

Safety and Compliance:

Follow safety procedures while handling refrigerants and electrical systems

Maintain compliance with environmental and building regulations

Document maintenance and repair activities
