Under general supervision of the Chair of Graduate Group of International Agricultural Development (IAD), this position will direct the IAD Graduate Program, manage broad-reaching external relations, advise students and faculty regarding program elements and processes, and lead program development and implementation. The position is responsible for strategic program direction, academic and administrative leadership, student recruitment and admissions, resource development, and financial management. Specifically, oversee daily operations of the IAD graduate program, direct the capstone opportunity development efforts and secure contracts for graduate student capstone fellowships, and develop and manage the External Advisory Committee in their efforts to network and collaborate with external partners. Also, manage external relationships with government agencies, private firms and non-profit organizations, for capstone projects and job opportunities for IAD graduates. Also, manage capstone curriculum and hiring and coordination of expert lecturers and teaching assistants to cover IAD core courses, as necessary. Oversee fundraising for the IAD program, including faculty and student support. Provide oversight and conduct all aspects of academic advising and mentorship to graduate students. Develop and implement a strategy for outreach and collaboration with UC Davis Organized Research Units and other UCD Partners and with external partners.

Department Overview
The Plant Sciences Department Business Unit has an annual estimated operating budget for teaching, research and outreach of $40M+, composed of state funds, extramural funds, endowments and sales income. This is a large, complex department with 70 faculty and over 500 staff (representing 332 FTE) stationed on the Davis campus and at several off campus locations throughout the state. Department missions include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and outreach, including Cooperative Extension, in agricultural plant biology, crop and ecosystems sciences and horticultural sciences. Department faculty are housed in 8 buildings on central campus and at various field stations. Provide service to over 40 green/head houses and numerous other special facilities used in teaching, research, and outreach. In addition to regularly scheduled classes, faculty are responsible for a large number of seminar, internships, and research units each quarter. Approximately 417 undergraduate student FTE are taught annually; there are 6 undergraduate majors with a total enrollment of 355 students as well as 137 graduate students.
