Job Summary
The SSS Program Eligibility Specialist/Tutor Coordinator is primarily responsible for the design and implementation of a successful SSS tutoring program, obtaining and ensuring the accuracy of student information for program intake, preparing and monitoring success plans for 40% of the students served, scheduling participants for tutoring, maintaining our online student database, working with supervisory personnel to maintain all TRIO lab equipment in good working condition, and advising the SSS Director of purchases or upgrades needed to existing equipment.
Program Objectives
Persistence Rate: 40% of participants served by the Program Eligibility Specialist/Tutor Coordinator will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year or graduate and/or transfer from a 2-year to a 4-year institution during the academic year.
Good Academic Standing Rate: 78% of participants served by the Program Eligibility Specialist/Tutor Coordinator will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at the grantee institution.
Graduation and Transfer Rates (2-year institutions): 8 % of new participants served each year will graduate with an associate’s degree or certificate within four (4) years, AND 25% of new participants served each year will transfer with an associate’s degree or certificate within four (4) years.

Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to effectively support low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities through comprehensive advising and advocacy. Proficient in personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, and internet-based platforms. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the public. Skilled in assessing student needs, addressing academic, personal, and emotional challenges, facilitating communication with faculty and support services, and developing individualized plans that promote academic success and persistence.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, business administration, or a related field, proficiency in software programs and proficiency in data entry; strong interpersonal skills; Background similar to students served or experience with disadvantaged students; Proficiency with computers; Strong interpersonal skills; Knowledge of basic office procedures and how to operate common office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in TRIO programs; Experience in a college setting, experience assisting students who are low-income, first-generation, and/or disabled; Supervisory experience in a lab setting; and experience working in a tutoring environment.
