The Academic Supervisor – Early Years Education / English Teacher is responsible for ensuring high-quality teaching and learning within the early years setting while delivering engaging English language instruction. This dual role combines academic leadership, curriculum development, and hands-on teaching to support children’s overall development and language acquisition.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Supervision:
- Oversee the planning and implementation of the early years curriculum (e.g., EYFS or equivalent).
- Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations, feedback, and coaching.
- Support and mentor teachers in lesson planning, classroom management, and best practices.
- Lead professional development sessions and training workshops.
- Ensure consistency in teaching standards across all classrooms.
English Teaching:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate English lessons.
- Use creative methods such as songs, storytelling, games, and play-based learning.
- Support children’s language development, communication, and early literacy skills.
- Assess and track children’s progress in English.
Curriculum & Assessment:
- Review and approve lesson plans and learning materials.
- Ensure proper assessment, documentation, and reporting of children’s development.
- Promote child-centered, inquiry-based, and play-based learning approaches.
Child Development & Wellbeing:
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies.
Parent Communication:
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Provide regular updates on children’s progress and development.
- Address concerns and support parental involvement in learning.
Compliance & Administration:
- Ensure adherence to educational standards, safeguarding policies, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate academic records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist in inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, English, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Teaching certification (required or preferred based on regulations).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in early years education; supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Strong command of English (native or near-native proficiency).
- Knowledge of early childhood frameworks (e.g., EYFS or similar).
