Academic CoordinatorPosition Overview

The Academic Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all academic support services across all program sites within the organization. This leadership role ensures students receive high-quality educational support, tutoring services, academic intervention, and progress monitoring tailored to their individual learning needs. The Academic Coordinator works closely with leadership, staff, families, schools, and community partners to create a structured and supportive academic environment that promotes student growth and success.

The Academic Coordinator will supervise academic staff, maintain educational standards, develop student support plans, and ensure all academic programming aligns with the mission and goals of the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Program Oversight

  • Oversee all academic services provided across all program locations and sites.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and effectiveness of tutoring and educational support services.
  • Develop and implement academic enrichment activities and intervention plans.
  • Monitor student academic progress and maintain documentation of growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with families, teachers, school personnel, and community agencies regarding student educational needs.
  • Assist with the development of individualized academic support plans.
  • Ensure educational materials and curriculum resources are updated and appropriate for student needs.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and support Tutors, Academic Assistants, and Educational Support Staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing professional development for academic staff.
  • Conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and staff development.
  • Ensure staff maintain professionalism and educational standards across all sites.

Student Support & Intervention

  • Identify students needing additional academic intervention or behavioral support.
  • Support students with executive functioning, study skills, organization, and academic planning.
  • Assist with homework support, test preparation, and skill-building activities.
  • Collaborate with Disability Coordinators and Program Coordinators to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations and support.
  • Help develop strategies that promote positive academic engagement and classroom success.

Program Administration

  • Maintain student records, academic reports, and progress tracking systems.
  • Assist leadership with academic scheduling, reporting, and program planning.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and educational expectations.
  • Support outreach efforts and educational partnerships within the community.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and organizational planning.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Human Services, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in education, tutoring, youth development, academic intervention, or student support services.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in academic or community-based settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple program sites and supervise staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of academic interventions, student engagement strategies, and educational planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, Special Education, or related field.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, IEPs, 504 Plans, or behavioral supports.
  • Experience supervising educational staff or managing academic programs.
  • Background in mentoring, after-school programming, or community education services.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Salary Range

Estimated salary range based on experience, education, certifications, and responsibilities:

  • Entry Level: $48,000 – $55,000 annually
  • Mid-Level Experience: $56,000 – $68,000 annually
  • Senior-Level/Multi-Site Leadership Experience: $70,000 – $85,000+ annually

Mission of the Role

The mission of the Academic Coordinator is to ensure every student receives structured, supportive, and individualized academic assistance that promotes educational growth, confidence, independence, and long-term success both inside and outside the classroom.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
