About the Opportunity

The Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA), in partnership with the Richmond Public Library and local community centers, is seeking Academic Tutors to support students in the Richmond Library & Community Center Homework Program.

Tutors will work directly with students to strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and foster a love of learning in a supportive, community-based environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist students with homework and academic assignments
  • Break down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps
  • Support students in developing independent learning and study habits
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment
  • Build supportive relationships with students and families

Program Locations

Library Sites:

  • Main Library – 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond, CA 94804
  • Bayview Library – 5100 Hartnett Ave., Richmond, CA 94804
  • Westside Library – 135 Washington Ave., Richmond, CA 94801

Community Center Sites:

  • Nevin Community Center – 598 Nevin Ave., Richmond, CA 94801
  • May Valley Community Center – 3530 Morningside Dr., Richmond, CA 94803
  • Shields-Reid Community Center – 1410 Kelsey St., Richmond, CA 94801

Requirements

  • Availability for all scheduled program days
  • Completion of BATA onboarding requirements, including:
  • Background check
  • Online tutor training
  • TB clearance
