Dauch is looking for an Account Manager to join our team in Detroit, MI.

The Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing assigned OEM and/or Tier 2 customer accounts by serving as the primary commercial interface between the customer and the organization. This role owns customer relationships, commercial performance, and coordination of internal cross‑functional teams to ensure program execution, customer satisfaction, and profitable growth across the product lifecycle—from quotation through launch and into series production.

Job Description:

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned OEM and/or Tier 2 customers.
  • Builds strong, long‑term relationships with customer purchasing, engineering, quality, and program teams.
  • Acts as the “voice of the customer” internally, ensuring alignment across sales, engineering, program management, quality, supply chain, and finance.

Commercial & Financial Ownership

  • Owns account P&L performance, including pricing, cost recovery, profitability tracking, and commercial risk management.
  • Leads customer negotiations related to pricing, tooling, commercial agreements, change management, and cost recovery.
  • Manages annual pricing activities, including cost breakdowns, indexation, and productivity discussions.

New Business & Growth

  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Leads the RFQ/RFP process in coordination with engineering and program management, including review of technical feasibility, costing, and commercial terms.
  • Prepares and deliver customer presentations and business reviews.

Program & Product Lifecycle Support

  • Supports program launches by coordinating with internal teams to ensure commercial alignment, timing, and customer communication.
  • Manages engineering changes, customer requests, and commercial impacts through formal change management processes.
  • Monitors program performance during series production and support issue resolution when needed.

Internal Coordination

  • Collaborates closely with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Participates in internal gate reviews, launch readiness reviews, and customer escalation processes.
  • Ensures compliance with IATF 16949, customer‑specific requirements, and company policies.

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Maintains accurate sales forecasts, revenue projections, and customer demand visibility.
  • Tracks and report KPIs related to customer performance, financial results, and commercial risks.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in account management, sales, or commercial roles within the automotive supply base (Tier 1 or OEM).
  • Strong understanding of OEM purchasing processes, RFQs, and automotive product lifecycles.
  • Experience managing pricing, commercial negotiations, and cost recovery.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced, matrix organization

Preferred

  • Experience supporting major OEMs (e.g., Stellantis, Ford, GM, or global OEMs).
  • Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and launch activities.
  • Familiarity with tooling agreements, piece‑price negotiations, and LTA structures
