Role Summary
We’re hiring a detail-obsessed, client-ready Account Manager / Bookkeeper with prior law firm experience to own the monthly bookkeeping + client relationship for law firms. You’ll handle accurate month-end closes, trust/IOLTA-aware workflows, AR/AP hygiene, and help clients actually understand their numbers, without overwhelming them.
This is a hybrid role: operator + communicator. You’re not just “doing the books, you’re owning the client experience.
Hours:
Initially, the role will be 2–3 hours per week. From there, we’ll monitor performance and reevaluate as needed. There will be a ramp-up period while you continue to prove your capabilities internally and with clients, and our hope is that your hours will steadily increase each month.

What You’ll Own (Core Responsibilities)

Monthly Bookkeeping & Close (Law Firms)

Manage monthly bookkeeping for a set roster of law firm clients (and related entities)

Perform month-end close: reconcile bank/credit cards, clean up transactions, categorize properly

Maintain accurate chart of accounts tailored to law firms (fees, costs, case costs, owners draws, etc.)

Prepare monthly financial package: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow (as applicable)

Track and resolve uncategorized/duplicate transactions and “Ask List” items quickly

Law Firm-Specific Accounting Competence

Understand law firm accounting workflows (settlement flows, client costs, retainers)

Maintain proper handling of client funds where applicable (trust/IOLTA awareness)

Help ensure clean separation of operating funds vs. client funds (no messy commingling)

Track reimbursable client costs and assist with clean reporting

Client Relationship Ownership (Account Manager)

Be the main point of contact for assigned clients (fast response, proactive updates)

Run monthly/quarterly financial review calls (or support the advisor/CPA on them)

Translate financials into plain English for attorneys and firm admins

Keep clients on track with deadlines, document requests, and monthly close timelines

Systems, Workflow, and Process

Work in tools like Xero / QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Gusto, Dext/Hubdoc, etc.

Follow internal SOPs and improve them (you’ll help make the machine better)

Keep clean documentation and audit trail inside the practice management system (e.g., Karbon)

Required Experience & Skills

2+ years bookkeeping/accounting experience (or equivalent)

Direct experience working with law firms (required)

Strong month-end close abilities (reconciliations, accrual awareness, cleanup)

Comfortable owning deadlines, follow-ups, and task management

High attention to detail + obsession with clean books
