POSITION PURPOSE
Provides entry-level support to the Accounting and Finance department and performs accounts receivable functions. Additional responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to ensuring accuracy and efficiency of operations, processing and monitoring incoming payments, and securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.

Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions from lock box and local deposits.

Updates receivable by totaling unpaid invoices.

Maintains records by microfilming invoices, debits, and credits.

Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments, and from customers.

Resolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.

Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.

Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line, coordinating contact with collections department.

Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account; verifying totals; preparing report.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Mondrian South Beach rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Proven working experience as Accounts Receivable Clerk.

Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations

Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers

Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software.

Proficiency in English and in MS Office

Customer service orientation and negotiation skills

This position requires a high degree of independent judgement and discretion on decision making.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.

Ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates.

Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly, and other office equipment as needed.
