Job Title: Chief Accountant
Location: Eye Hospital and Charitable Trust
Reports to: Finance Manager / Director
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Chief Accountant will oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the Eye Hospital and Charitable Trust. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with applicable regulations, and maintaining financial controls to support the trust's mission and activities. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, experience in the healthcare or non-profit sector, and a commitment to maintaining the financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and timely financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and financial regulations specific to healthcare and charitable organizations.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, donors, and government bodies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Review financial statements for discrepancies or issues, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Accounting Operations:
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Handle and monitor bank reconciliations and ensure appropriate cash flow management.
  • Ensure the proper recording of donations and grants, maintaining transparency and reporting requirements.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and financial policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure timely preparation of audit schedules and reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, nonprofit financial regulations, and healthcare finance standards.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing training and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including finance, operations, and medical staff, to ensure efficient financial operations.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders, including trustees and staff.
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
  • Assist in long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making to support the hospital’s mission and charitable initiatives.
  • Develop financial models and scenarios to assess the impact of potential programs, investments, and donations.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Chartered Accountant designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in the healthcare, non-profit, or charitable sector is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of stakeholders.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with the potential for flexible hours.
  • Some travel may be required for site visits, meetings, or training purposes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
