Job Overview:

The Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the accounts payable team, ensuring efficient payment processing, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role involves coordinating with various departments for accurate financial reporting, tax management, and reconciliation of financial transactions. The Accountant plays a key role in the month-end and year-end closing process, as well as maintaining cash flow and fixed asset records.


Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable and Payment Processing

  • Supervise the accounts payable team, ensuring that subcontractor payments are processed accurately and timely.
  • Develop payment schedules and follow up to obtain required signatures from management for cheques issuance.

Financial Reporting and Coordination

  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to prepare monthly progress invoices for clients.
  • Record project tax invoices (revenue) and customer payments, ensuring accurate reflection in the financial system.

Fixed Asset Management

  • Maintain fixed asset records, ensuring the accurate tracking and reporting of assets, depreciation schedules, and amortization.

Month-End and Year-End Closing

  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Reporting

  • Prepare weekly financial reports for review by the Finance Manager, providing insights into cash flow, accounts payable, and other key financial metrics.

Cash Flow and Bank Reconciliation

  • Monitor and maintain cash flow for all bank accounts, ensuring accurate recording of cheques issued and received.
  • Reconcile all bank ledgers in the system with bank statements, resolving discrepancies as needed.

VAT and Taxation

  • Prepare VAT closures (input and output) for Finance Manager verification, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
