Position Title: Accountant
Location: DHA Phase 5, Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, Street No. 29, Karachi
Reporting Line: Finance Manager / Group Finance Head

Important Clarification:
This position is not for Aawaz TV Network / Broadcasting Operations. The role is specifically for the Construction Company, which operates as a group entity under Aawaz Television Group. The nature of work, responsibilities, and reporting structure are related solely to the construction business operations of the group.

Job Purpose:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, handling day-to-day accounting operations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal controls for the construction company of the Aawaz Television Group. The role supports project-based accounting, cost control, budgeting, and financial discipline within construction operations.

Job Description (JD)Key Responsibilities:1. Financial Accounting & Records

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts for the construction company.
  • Record daily transactions including vouchers, payments, receipts, and journal entries.
  • Manage general ledger, cash book, and bank book.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.

2. Construction Project Accounting

  • Maintain project-wise accounting records.
  • Track project costs, expenses, and budgets.
  • Monitor material, labor, contractor, and site-related expenses.
  • Support cost control and variance analysis for construction projects.

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Manage vendor payments and contractor bills.
  • Reconcile supplier statements.
  • Maintain accounts receivable records and follow up on recoveries.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.

4. Banking & Reconciliations

  • Handle bank transactions and deposits.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
  • Coordinate with banks for routine operational matters.

5. Taxation & Compliance

  • Assist in preparation of tax records (withholding tax, sales tax, income tax where applicable).
  • Maintain statutory records and compliance documentation.
  • Support audits (internal and external).

6. Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls.
  • Assist management in financial decision-making through accurate reporting.

7. Coordination & Support

  • Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and procurement teams.
  • Support group finance functions where required.
  • Liaison with auditors, consultants, and regulatory bodies when needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (B.Com / BBA Finance / MBA Finance preferred).
  • Professional qualification (CA-Inter, ACCA-Inter, ICMA-Inter) will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in construction or project-based organizations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
