Job Summary
We are seeking an Accountant to manage and oversee the school’s accounting operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This position leads the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements, maintains fiscal records, and delivers financial reports and analyses to support decision-making by the Business Administrator and school leadership.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, credit card transactions, and payroll.
- Prepare and post timely and accurate journal entries, ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations and accounting schedules are up to date.
- Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition in compliance with school policies and accounting standards.
- Monitor cash and investment balances, prepare cash flow forecasts, and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Ensure all accounting practices comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Oversee fiscal year-end close activities and support external accountants and/or auditors with required documentation and reporting.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and consolidated reports for school leadership and the Business Administrator.
- Maintain accurate fiscal records, spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software to ensure data integrity.
- Safeguard and properly maintain all year-end records in compliance with audit and recordkeeping requirements.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Business Administrator and other key stakeholders on financial planning and reporting.
- Assist with tax return preparation and filing, as required.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, master’s degree a plus
English level: Fully bilingual: Spanish & English (Advanced level)
Professional Experience: 3-5 years or more of accounting experience
Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office systems (word, excel, power point)
- Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks
- Experience with ADP Software
