<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reports. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health, facilitate strategic decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. <Responsibilities>

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory reporting standards.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for efficient financial management.
  • Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Review and interpret financial reports to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices and industry best practices to foster professional growth.

<Requirements>

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar tools; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is a plus.
  • Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for clear financial report writing and interpretation.
