Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reports. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations to maintain precise financial records.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory standards relevant to corporate and governmental accounting.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights into financial data.
  • Maintain proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
  • Support tax preparation efforts by managing tax experience related to non-profit accounting or corporate finance activities.
  • Contribute to financial report writing and interpretation to facilitate clear communication of financial health across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC securities law if applicable, and technical accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero or equivalent systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles including debits & credits.
  • Experience with financial analysis, cash flow analysis, budget management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent skills in financial report writing and interpretation for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative environment. Pay: $37,440.00 - $49,920.00 per year
