Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the accurate management of financial records, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and managing the preparation of financial information for presentation to executive management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in managerial non-profit accounting principles and a passion for maintaining integrity in financial reporting. You will play a vital role in preparing financial statements, informational reports, charts and graphs, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Conduct detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation to verify data integrity across various accounts like accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring timely submission of financial data in accordance with securities law and governmental regulations.
  • Assist with auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules, including the non-profit 990 tax return.
  • Oversee payroll processing and tax experience to ensure proper deductions, filings, and adherence to legal standards.
  • Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in technical accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts while fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects to support strategic decision-making within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 10+ year's experience.
  • Proven experience in managerial accounting.
  • Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices or governmental accounting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and analysis are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, journal entries, and accrual accounting accurately.
  • Support clients with budgets, forecasting and performance review.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts like debits & credits, cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
