Accountant / Bookkeeper

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial data
• Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, for various transactions in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify account accuracy
• Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
• Support budgeting activities by analyzing financial data and preparing reports for management review
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools to record transactions accurately
• Perform detailed account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
• Contribute to financial report writing by compiling data for internal reports or external audits
• Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, audit trails, and supporting documentation for all financial activities

Qualifications

• Proven experience in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or public accounting environments
• Strong proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken or similar platforms
• Solid understanding of GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting concepts
• Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliation
• Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and tax experience is a plus
• Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently along with attention to detail in data entry tasks
• Familiarity with payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable management
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately
• Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
