Core responsibilities
- Record and track finances: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers and books of accounts.
- Prepare financial statements: Produce key financial reports like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Perform analysis and reporting: Analyze financial data, assess financial operations, and create reports to help management make informed decisions.
- Manage budgets and forecasts: Develop and manage budgets, and create financial forecasts.
- Reconcile accounts: Reconcile bank statements and other accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance: Ensure all financial records and activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting principles (like GAAP).
- Handle taxes: Prepare and file tax returns, and advise on strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
Additional duties
- Review and process invoices, and manage payments.
- Manage payroll functions.
- Liaise with external auditors and banks.
- Provide strategic advice on financial planning, investments, and cost reduction.
- Implement or update accounting systems and software.
