We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Freelance or Part-Time Senior Accountant with a strong background in bookkeeping, financial reporting, VAT, and UAE corporate tax. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Xero, and be responsible for verifying financial records, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, and analyzing Profit & Loss statements across multiple interrelated companies.
This is a trust-based role, and the candidate must demonstrate the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism. The person will be entrusted with sensitive financial information and is expected to handle all data and access responsibly, keeping company accounts safe and secure at all times.
The role also involves occasional on-site supervision of internal teams, guiding accounting processes and supporting internal and external audits.
Responsibilities:
Verify accuracy and completeness of accounting records and Profit & Loss ledgers for all interrelated group entities.
Perform full-cycle accounting in Xero, including managing the general ledger, journals, bank feeds, coding, and reconciliations.
Prepare accurate monthly Profit & Loss reports, Balance Sheets, and financial summaries; provide variance analysis and improvement suggestions.
Ensure proper VAT treatment on all transactions and support preparation of VAT and UAE Corporate Tax filings in compliance with FTA regulations.
Coordinate with auditors and prepare working files for external and internal audits. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Visit the company premises once or twice a week/month to supervise internal accounting teams, provide guidance, and ensure accounting best practices are followed.
Reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure consistent accounting across group entities.
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current accounting processes; recommend and implement improvements for enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
Monitor aging schedules, verify supplier and customer statements, and ensure timely collections and payments.
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules; oversee capitalization and disposal processes.
Deliver ad-hoc financial reports, KPIs, and management packs as requested.
Maintain strict confidentiality of company financials and sensitive data. Ensure all documents, ledgers, and records are kept secure and handled with care and discretion.
