About the Role

The Accountant I supports accounting operations across residential and commercial property portfolios. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, account reconciliation, and maintaining consistent accounting processes across multiple properties.

This position works closely with property managers and the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial data, reporting, and compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly owner reports and explain financial activity
  • Process accounts payable, including invoice entry and check runs
  • Apply cash receipts and post tenant payments to ledgers
  • Perform CAM and real estate tax billings and reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and financial adjustments
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts and review financial variances
  • Support annual audits and prepare required documentation
  • Build and maintain Excel reports for budgets and financial comparisons
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in accounts and transactions
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
  • Support process improvements and standardization across the portfolio
  • Attend meetings with accounting leadership and property teams

Qualifications

  • Two years of accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • Experience with financial statements, bookkeeping, and audit support
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and financial processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication with internal teams and property staff
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Technology

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and office software required. Experience with property management and accounting systems such as Yardi or similar platforms preferred.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $54,999.00 per year

  • Property management accounting: 1 year (Preferred)
