Accountant - Payroll

Job Summary

The Accountant – Payroll is responsible for managing payroll processing, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounting operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and assisting in financial reporting. The role requires strong knowledge of payroll administration, accounting principles, and financial controls.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Management

  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including salaries, allowances, deductions, overtime, and leave payments.
  • Verify attendance, timesheets, leave records, and payroll inputs before processing.
  • Calculate end-of-service benefits, leave encashments, and final settlements.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with applicable labor laws and company policies.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee onboarding, offboarding, salary revisions, and payroll changes.
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll-related accounts.

Accounting & Finance

  • Record and maintain accurate accounting transactions in the ERP/accounting system.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation records.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare financial reports and management reports as required.
  • Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and financial information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification is an advantage (ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, including payroll processing.
  • Experience with ERP systems and payroll software.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
