Position Overview
The Leasing Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial transactions related to property leasing, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, timely reconciliations, and compliance with internal and external audit requirements. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal divisions and external stakeholders.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Financial Transactions & Reconciliations
- Handle all bank-related transactions and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies during reconciliation processes.
- Clear cheques for all properties managed by the company.
- Maintain cheque trial balance accounts and ensure proper documentation.
Expense & Payment Management
- Accurately record utility, medical, and other expenses in the accounting system.
- Prepare cheques for utility payments and ensure timely disbursement.
- Prepare internal memos to fund transfers for other divisions.
- Ensure accurate and timely provision entries for expenses and liabilities.
Payroll & Fund Management
- Verify and record monthly salary payments in the accounting system.
- Prepare fund transfer entries related to payroll and employee benefits.
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate and support the successful completion of yearly audit processes.
- Assist in real estate-specific auditing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory standards.
Daily Accounting Activities
- Check bank balances and update records accordingly.
- Review utility bills, send invoices, and follow up on payments.
- Prepare detailed expense reports and maintain reconciliation records in Excel.
- Calculate monthly depreciation for assets and record entries in trial balance and Excel sheets.
- Perform monthly provision entries and leasing-related reconciliations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in real estate or leasing.
- Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, provisions, and depreciation accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for audit and inter-departmental processes.
