Accounting Associate

Reports To:

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of accounting functions within general accounting with special emphasis in PO- Receiving, AP, and AR areas. Contacts other departments and/or, vendors, and customers to resolve common problems. Great opportunity for advancement within the department.

Position Responsibilities:

· Performs accounting duties of moderate complexity under general supervision.

· Applies working knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping terms and procedures.

· Verifies accuracy, completeness and consistency of accounting information received.

· Codes documents in accordance with general ledger account distribution.

· Works with Purchasing and Receiving Associate to process receiving documentation and matches to AP invoices ensuring quantity and pricing accuracy.

· Maintains accurate, open vendor invoice file.

· Works with AP Supervisor to review accounts payable ledger to identify invoices to be paid in timely manner.

· Reviews and enters invoices for payment, ensuring it agrees to support documentation and prepares checks for payment.

· Records disbursements, expenses and other payments.

· Assists AR personnel with customer billing and invoice processing.

· Checks details needed to prepare various accounting reports, specific accounts and journal entries.

· Prepares month end accounting reports and journal entries.

· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Associate degree in accounting.

· Two (2) years experience in accounting/bookkeeping position.

· These qualifications are meant to be guidelines and are not mandatory; previous experience can be substituted for education and skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
