Accounting Controller

Accounting Controller Job Description

A local construction company is in search of an accounting manager/controller to manage small accounting department and various financial reporting and preparation of financial statements. This position is on-site and requires a hands-on approach. This position reports directly to the President and is responsible for directing and supervising personnel in a manner that routinely, accurately, and consistently completes all accounting and financial reporting in an efficient and reliable manner.

Responsibilities:

· Lead accounting department,

· Prepare month-end close including account analysis, journal entries, various reconciliations and financial statements preparation;

· Monitor and manage the organization’s external banking, accounting and auditor relationships;

· Prepare monthly union reports;

· Prepare monthly sales tax returns and filings;

· Prepare federal and multi-state payroll tax returns;

· Assist with invoicing customer contracts on jobs;

· Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, oversee debt facilities, loan agreements, and loan contract management;

· Maintain renewals of company insurance policies;

· Manage and support the budgeting and forecasting process;

· Keep up-to-date communication regarding the company’s financial position with the President and maintain monthly updates;

· Oversee ESOP operations, 401k plan payments, and company match.

· Salary commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher;

· Accounting experience in controller position of 2+ years;

· Public accounting experience helpful but not required, will be considered in lieu of controller’s experience;

· Knowledge of Sage/Peachtree helpful but not required;

· Ability to work autonomously and be part of a team;

· Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external parties;

· Intermediate computer software skills, and ability to learn new technologies as they develop;

· Highly self-motivated with the ability to multi-task;

· Deadline-oriented with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
