Accounting Manager

<Overview>
Join our dynamic team as an Accounting Manager, where you will lead and oversee the organization’s financial operations with energy and precision. The Accounting Manager is a senior role within our US finance team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. Reporting to the US Financial Controller, this role manages accounting staff, maintains strong internal controls, and partners with cross‑functional teams to support the customer and supplier experience. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in managing records, month‑end close, audit preparation, and continuous process improvement within the finance team. As Flexicare Inc. is part of the global Flexicare group, the role will involve some working with HQ (UK based) finance leadership.

<Responsibilities>

Team management & development

· Lead and supervise the accounting team, assigning tasks, providing coaching, training, performance management, and professional development.

Operational finance management

· Manage general ledger postings and serve as point of contact/escalation for complex accounting issues.

· Oversee daily accounting operations for AP and AR, including but not limited to:

· Managing past-due AR and AP balances

· Managing distributor receivables and resolving reported discrepancies in a timely manner

· Managing freight and logistics account reconciliations with our key suppliers

· Periodically reconciling account balances with the general ledger

· Oversee the employee expense system for corporate credit card and cash expense transactions and ensure appropriate reporting.

· Manage sales tax compliance and reporting.

· Assist the customer service team with timely responses and resolutions related to customer inquiries.

Period-end financial reporting

· Assist with the month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.

· Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

· Assist with quarterly and annual Certified Public Accountant and auditor requests and schedules.

Financial planning and analysis

· Analyse financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.

· Various ad-hoc Data analytics and reconciliations to management.

· Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with finance leadership.

<Qualifications>

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field

· Experience managing and developing accounting teams

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills (e.g. to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and/or cost‑saving opportunities)

· Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets - Power BI and/or SQL experience is a plus

· Working experience of SAP Business One, Avalara and/or Concur desirable

<Experience>

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years of managerial or supervisory experience.

· Strong understanding of US GAAP and corporate accounting principles.

· Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements

· Proven ability to manage customer and supplier expectations and improve DSO

· Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

· Self-starter with strong organizational skills who’s able to communicate effectively with both financial and non‑financial stakeholders

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
