Accounting Manager

Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation activities to maintain precise financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and support internal and external audits through thorough documentation and process improvements.
  • Supervise regulatory reporting requirements related to governmental accounting standards and other legal obligations such as securities law.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing training on technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial report writing.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial management initiatives to optimize organizational resources.
  • Implement and maintain accounting software systems like Sage, Xero, or other financial software to streamline operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on tax experience including Wills, Trusts & Estate Law as well as non-profit accounting practices when applicable.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; strong technical accounting skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or public accounting environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for reporting purposes.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience mentoring teams in technical accounting procedures like Wills & Trusts Law or securities law compliance.
  • Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation tasks including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation efficiently.
  • Skilled in financial report writing and interpretation to support strategic decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of budgeting techniques, forecasting models, cash flow analysis, and accrual accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with auditing processes and internal controls related to SOX compliance; experience with regulatory reporting is a plus. Pay: $63,098.09 - $73,098.00 per year
