The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial processes. This role balances hands-on accounting work with leadership responsibilities, supporting the team while maintaining strong internal controls and reliable financial reporting.

This position plays a key role in supporting business decisions by providing clear financial insight, maintaining organized records, and partnering with operations to ensure financial alignment across both Sun America and Central Coated Products.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger activity
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and journal entries
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements
  • Ensure all financial data is properly recorded and supported with documentation

Customer Invoicing & Billing Oversight

  • Oversee preparation and issuance of accurate customer invoices based on shipping documents, production reports, and sales orders
  • Ensure all bills of lading, packing slips, and production confirmations are complete prior to invoicing
  • Review and approve customer credit memos with proper documentation
  • Partner with Customer Service, Scheduling, Shipping, and Operations to ensure billing accuracy and timeliness

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports and assist CFO with analysis
  • Support budget tracking and variance analysis
  • Assist in identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide data and insights to support operational and financial decision-making

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and accountability to accounting team members
  • Train and develop team on processes, systems, and best practices
  • Ensure workload is balanced and deadlines are met
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and detail-oriented team environment

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and reports
  • Assist with sales tax reporting and other regulatory filings as needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, HR, and Leadership to support business needs
  • Assist with payroll coordination and benefit-related financial reporting as needed
  • Support ERP system accuracy and continuous improvement efforts
  • Communicate effectively across departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience supervising or leading a team is a plus
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Hands-on, willing to roll up sleeves and support the team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration across departments
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Business Central preferred) and Microsoft Excel

  • Primarily onsite role within a manufacturing environment
