Accounting Manager

Location: Onsite – Grandview, MO

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and support the financial health of our organization. This role is responsible for overseeing daily accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing financial insights that support strategic business decisions.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical accounting expertise, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor cash flow and perform bank account reconciliations.

Accounting Operations

  • Supervise and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting functions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Prepare and review tax filings and supporting schedules.

Planning & Analysis

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
