Kodiak College is seeking applicants for an accounting supervisor position. This position involves a great deal of attention-to-detail and ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies. Responsible for developing, updating and implementing financial strategies and solutions. Must have the ability to collaborate and support management to align financial requirements with organizational business objectives.
To be successful in this role the applicant will possess knowledge of accounting theory and fund accounting principles and practices including proper use of debits & credits. Advanced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of rules and regulations associated with capital and operating budgets. Cost/benefit analysis, budget forecasting techniques, and budget preparation procedures along with the ability to analyze and implement improvements.
Applicant should have collections knowledge including familiarity of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, experience with confidential records and information. The ability to correctly interpret, apply, enforce, and communicate complex policies, rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with diverse populations are important attributes.
Experience working with Banner or other accounting information systems is preferred. Computer experience to include Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, experience working in Excel with complex spreadsheet, pivot tables, charts, and data analysis.
College coursework in Accounting or related field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong general ledger and journal entry experience along with experience developing and managing complex budgets with multiple funding sources and restrictions within a computerized accounting system.
Preferred: Advanced technical skills in the BANNER finance, student, and human resources modules.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics or related field and 6 months professional fiscal experience or and equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Kodiak College campus on Kodiak Island. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
