An accounts assistant provides administrative support to the accounting department by handling daily financial tasks, such as processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records, and reconciling bank statements. Key duties include preparing financial documents, assisting with payroll and tax preparation, and ensuring data accuracy and compliance with company policies

Core responsibilities

  • Financial record keeping: Recording and maintaining accurate financial transactions, such as sales, purchases, and expenses, in ledgers and journals.
  • Accounts payable and receivable: Processing invoices, issuing payments to vendors, collecting payments from customers, and managing accounts payable and receivable records.
  • Financial reporting: Assisting with the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, and helping with budget forecasts.
  • Administrative support: Handling general office tasks like filing, data entry, answering phones, and responding to emails
  • Payroll and expenses: Verifying hours and deductions for payroll and processing expense reimbursement requests
