Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to manage end-to-end financial operations, including general accounting, VAT filing, corporate tax compliance, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience handling accounts for a trading company in the UAE, including inventory-related accounting, cost calculations, and trading figures. This role requires strong knowledge of UAE VAT and corporate tax regulations, accounting principles, and audit processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and inventory-related transactions.
- Handle accounting for trading operations, including purchase, sales, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and margin analysis.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, customer accounts, and inventory balances.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
VAT Filing and Compliance (UAE)
- Prepare and file VAT returns accurately and on time in compliance with UAE VAT regulations.
- Maintain proper VAT documentation and records for all transactions.
- Monitor VAT compliance and advise management on VAT-related matters, including input/output VAT and adjustments.
- Prepare VAT reports and support VAT audits or inspections when required.
Corporate Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns in accordance with UAE corporate tax laws.
- Calculate tax provisions and ensure accurate tax reporting in financial statements.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company’s operations.
- Liaise with tax authorities and respond to queries or notices.
- Support corporate tax audits and provide relevant documentation.
Audit and Reporting
- Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors.
- Support statutory and internal audits by providing accurate financial data and explanations.
- Compile audit reports and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and accounting standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Publish financial statements within agreed timelines.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Provide management with financial insights to support business decision-making.
Compliance and Record Keeping
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with UAE laws and company policies.
- Maintain organized and complete financial records for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Stay updated on accounting standards, financial regulations, and best practices in the UAE.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in the UAE, specifically within a trading company.
- Proven experience in handling trading accounts, inventory accounting, and calculation of trading figures.
- Strong knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations.
- Experience in audit preparation and coordination.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
