Accounts Manager (Real Estate)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Manager to oversee all aspects of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial health, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support project management and executive decision-making. You will play a key role in cost control, cash flow management, and financial reporting specific to the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting:

  • Manage the entire accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).
  • Ensure accurate and timely closure of books of accounts.
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with statutory deductions.

2. Project Costing & Control:

  • Implement and monitor project-wise accounting to track the financial performance of each construction site.
  • Analyze project costs (material, labor, subcontractor, equipment) against budgets and forecasts.
  • Work closely with project managers to control costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present project profitability reports to senior management.

3. Taxation & Statutory Compliance:

  • Manage all direct and indirect tax compliances, with a strong focus on GST (filing returns, reconciliations, refunds) and TDS/TCS (deduction, deposit, and return filing).
  • Ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act, Companies Act, 2013, and other relevant laws.
  • Liaise with chartered accountants, auditors, and tax consultants for assessments and audits.
  • Stay updated on changes in Indian financial regulations and implement necessary changes.

4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage daily cash positions to ensure liquidity for project needs.
  • Monitor debtor and creditor aging reports and follow up for collections (from clients) and payments (to vendors/subcontractors).
  • Manage bank relationships, including overseeing working capital limits, bank guarantees, and letters of credit.

5. Audit & Internal Controls:

  • Coordinate and manage internal, external, and statutory audits.
  • Develop and implement robust internal financial controls and processes to safeguard company assets.
  • Conduct periodic audits of site expenses and vendor bills.

6. Team Management & Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounts team, including accountants and assistants.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the team's productivity and development.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly preferred. Alternatively, a Cost Accountant (ICWA) or MBA in Finance from a reputed institution.
  • Experience: 8-12 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 5 years in the construction/infrastructure/real estate industry in India.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory laws in India.
  • Proficiency in Tally Prime or other advanced construction accounting ERP software (e.g., SAP).
  • Advanced expertise in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Language: Proficiency in English and the local language (e.g., Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, etc.).
