Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, receipts, bulk payments, and other purchase/travel-related documents.
  • Verify purchase/travel compliance with State Purchasing and State Finance rules and regulations.
  • Obtain payment approvals and enter payment/reimbursement details into the State Financial system (Vantage/Finet).
  • Manage vendor accounts and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Coordinate the management of asset inventory.
  • Reconciles financial statements and reports, analyzing and reviewing the data for accuracy and integrity.
  • Other accounting-related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Foundational understanding of accounting and fiscal/financial management.
  • Familiarity with financial systems, such as Vantage/FINET or similar accounting and reporting tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets).
  • Ability to quickly learn and use accounting systems and other software essential for financial operations.
  • Ability to follow and apply federal, state, and organizational policies and procedures related to financial compliance.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Resourcefulness in problem-solving, proactively taking the lead to research and resolving problems or answer questions.
  • Dependability, accountability, and commitment to delivering high-quality work, timely work.
  • Understanding the importance of supporting internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and proven experience of principles, theories, and practices of accounts payable.
  • Knowledge and proven experience applying State laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Intermediate proficiency in spreadsheet and data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel and Google
    Sheets.
  • Experience with State Finance management tools, resources, and system including Vantage/FINET.
  • Familiarity with State purchasing and procurement laws.
  • Skilled at preparing financial reports and documentation.
  • Knowledge of state purchasing policies or experience with public-sector financial operations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and present actionable insights.
  • Resolving discrepancies, identifying and addressing errors, and improving processes.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in wildlife conservation or public service.

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Typical Work Schedule:
  • Normal business hours. Hybrid office/telework options.*
