Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for processing and managing all aspects of accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and suppliers. Duties
- Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders with precision using various accounting software
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions with the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits and account analysis.
- Verify invoice details against purchase orders and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Manage invoice approvals, coding, and data entry efficiently while adhering to controls for financial reporting integrity.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions, perform account reconciliation, and prepare supporting documentation for audits.
- Assist with month-end closing processes including balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries related to accounts payable.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies or payment issues promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements for efficiency and compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounts payable functions within a corporate or governmental accounting environment.
- Familiarity with accounting or inventory software such as Xero, Fishbowl, Buildertrend is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Experience working with financial standards such as GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
- Ability to perform detailed data entry with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Excellent math skills combined with analytical thinking for account analysis and account reconciliation tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
