Accounts Payable Specialist

Position Type: Full-Time, In-Office

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance Team in our Burlington, Vermont office.

Job Description: The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing the firm’s accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reimbursements, and vendor payments. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong financial controls and supporting the firm’s accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

Review, code, and process vendor invoices in accordance with firm policies
Ensure proper approvals are obtained prior to payment
Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
Process and record IOLTA (client trust) transactions in compliance with applicable trust accounting requirements
Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries
Process employee expense reimbursements
Assist with month-end closing tasks related to accounts payable
Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
Support internal and external audits as needed
Monitor the Finance Team inbox and route inquiries to the appropriate team members
Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and vendors to resolve billing and payment issues
Assist with additional finance and accounting projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Strong work ethic and reliability
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions and tasks
Capable of working efficiently in a team-oriented environment
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
Prior administrative office experience required. Prior accounts payable or accounting experience preferred; training will be provided, with more extensive onboarding available for the right candidate

Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary: $26.00-$28.00 per hour, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
