Accounts Receivable Job Description – Home Health Agency
Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist ensures accurate billing and timely collection of payments for home health services. This role is critical for maintaining cash flow and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor receivables: Track outstanding balances, follow up on unpaid claims, and maintain aging reports.
- Resolve claim issues: Research and correct rejected or denied claims, initiate corrective actions, and resubmit.
- Manage patient billing: match invoices with the billing, and handle patient inquiries.
- Maintain compliance: Ensure billing practices meet Medicare/Medicaid and HIPAA requirements.
- Support agency staff: Educate and guide personnel on clean claim practices and billing procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years in healthcare billing or accounts receivable, preferably in home health.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing rules
- Proficiency with billing software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication with patients and payers
Work Environment
- Full-time/ Part-time, typically during business hours.
- May involve interaction with multiple agencies or departments.
