The City of Boise is hiring for an Acquisitions Specialist II at our Library! Main Branch.
Be part of the team that keeps Boise’s Downtown collections moving. As a Library Acquisitions Specialist II, you’ll play a hands-on role in getting materials from delivery to shelf - processing, repairing, quality-checking, and ensuring accurate bibliographic records in the ILS. You’ll support daily acquisitions workflows, manage mail and incoming deliveries, and help maintain the integrity of the Library’s collection data.

Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Is capable of performing all duties of a Acquisitions Specialist I and provides team support and training, as needed.
Physically processes materials using established procedures. Performs daily quality assurance checks on entries completed by other staff. Physically mends items in need of repair.
Unpacks library materials in all formats and verifies condition and suitability for use. Locates correct bibliographic records for routine materials to import into ILS. Creates item records for routine materials, merges records as needed and identifies any ongoing issues for cleanup to maintain the integrity of data in ILS.
Works on initiatives including, but not limited to pulling and processing discarded materials and pulling holds and shelving. May participate on library-wide teams.
Interacts with delivery personnel and signs for supplies and deliveries. Receives and sorts incoming external and internal city mail for distribution. Processes outgoing mail.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in a library or related environment with exposure to complex classification systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds and occasionally pushing/pulling up to 101+ pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. Exposure to varied weather conditions such as uneven sidewalks and icy conditions during winters between parking lot and building entry. Watch for traffic when assisting donors with unloading of donated materials.
