Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced ACT tutor who will provide in-person tutoring to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ACT test-taking strategies, mathematics, reading, science, and English, along with excellent communication skills and a commitment to student success.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one or small group ACT tutoring sessions in person at students' homes.
- Develop customized lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.
- Teach core ACT subjects: English, Math, Reading, and Science, focusing on test-taking strategies, time management, and score improvement.
- Provide instruction on problem-solving techniques, critical thinking, essay writing, and analytical reasoning skills.
- Offer constructive feedback on students' practice problems, essays, and mock exams to enhance their performance.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that motivates students to engage with challenging material and build confidence.
- Stay updated on changes to the ACT exam format, question types, and scoring guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience in ACT tutoring or teaching.
- Personal ACT score of 30 or higher (on a 36 scale).
- Strong knowledge of ACT test structure, question types, and scoring rubrics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
- Familiarity with ACT exam requirements, scoring criteria, and test preparation strategies.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds.
- Proficiency with educational technology and online resources (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom) is a plus.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on student availability.
- Part-time position with the possibility of additional hours during peak periods (e.g., before test dates).
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
