Role Purpose:
Deliver hands-on actuarial production work as an individual contributor, supporting the Manager across reserving, regulatory reporting, pricing support and claims analytics. Run the technical grunt-work of the cycle data extraction, triangulation, model runs, template population, reconciliations to high accuracy and on time. Act as the entry-point into the actuarial profession: progress foundational actuarial exams, build technical craft, learn cross-functional context, and prepare to step up into a Manager role.
1-Reserving Production Support:
- Extract, clean and reconcile claims, premium and exposure data from source systems for the reserving cycle.
- Run triangulations, basic development factor calculations and link-ratio analyses under Manager direction.
- Execute reserving model runs (IBNR, URR, LRC, LIC, risk adjustment) per the approved methodology and templates.
- Populate reserving pack sections, movement tables and supporting schedules.
- Flag data anomalies, outliers and unusual patterns to the Manager for review.
2-Regulatory Reporting & AA Data Preparation:
- Populate SAMA, CCHI and CMA submission templates under Manager review.
- Reconcile regulatory outputs to the reserving pack, management reports and GL.
- Prepare data extracts, working papers and evidence packs for the external Appointed Actuary (Lux).
- Maintain version control and the submissions evidence file for each reporting cycle.
- Track regulatory deadlines on the team calendar and prompt ahead of cut-offs.
3-Pricing, Claims & Operations Analytics Support:
- Support pricing calculations for group renewals, SME and Retail as directed.
- Run loss-ratio, frequency, severity and utilization analyses by segment, cohort and benefit.
- Produce hands-on claims analytics for Operations: unit cost, network leakage, age / mix decomposition, pre-auth impact tracking.
- Refresh the Operations dashboards and medical inflation monitoring tools each cycle.
- Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests from the Manager and partner teams within agreed timelines.
4-Modelling, Data & Automation:
- Build and maintain supporting models in SAS, Python, R or Excel under Manager direction.
- Automate recurring analysis and reporting tasks to reduce manual effort.
- Contribute to data quality improvements, reconciliation routines and issue logs.
- Run validation and reasonableness checks on own outputs before handover for review.
- Document code, assumptions, inputs and outputs clearly to enable peer review.
5-Documentation & Governance:
- Maintain working papers, methodology notes and change logs to audit-ready standard.
- Apply doer-checker discipline and peer-review protocols on all outputs.
- Support internal audit, external audit and Appointed Actuary reviews by providing working papers on request.
- Keep the team's data-definition and methodology library up to date for own workstream.
- Participate in process-improvement initiatives and knowledge-transfer sessions.
6-Professional Development & Cross-Functional Learning:
- Progress foundational actuarial exams (SOA / IFoA / CAS) on the Company-supported pathway.
- Build cross-functional understanding of Underwriting, Claims, Pre-Auth, Operations and Finance through rotations, shadowing and cross-training.
- Actively participate in knowledge-transfer sessions, training and mentoring from senior members.
- Develop technical craft in SAS, Python, R, SQL, Excel and IFRS 17 tooling.
- Build strong working relationships with peers across the actuarial team and partner functions.
