Find your purpose at CentraCare as an Addiction Counselor at St. Cloud Hospital. In this role, you will provide assessments, counseling, and care coordination for patients experiencing substance use disorders while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team to support recovery and long-term wellness.
Position Responsibilities
- Facilitate psychosocial and chemical dependency assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
- Provides clinical interventions to include individual, couples, family, and group education to inpatients/outpatients ages 12 years to geriatric (depending on site)
- Coordinate discharge planning and community resource referrals.
- Provide case management and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
- Serve as a liaison between treatment teams and referral or consulting resources.
- Provide consultative services to other behavioral health sites, including Telehealth assessments as needed.
Support patient safety practices and Family Centered Care principles.
Schedule
64 hours every two weeks | 8am-5pm | Monday – Friday | Onsite
Pay and Benefits
- Starting pay begins at $56,693.51 per year and increases with experience
- Salary range: $56,693.51-$85,018.35 per year
- Salary and salary range is based on a 1.0 FTE, reduced FTE will result in a prorated offer rate

Education
One of the following is required:
- Graduate-level Chemical Dependency Certificate or Master’s degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
Experience
- Internship in chemical dependency counseling (Bachelor’s or Master’s level).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required to be considered for hospital-based consultation work.
- Knowledge of laws related to commitment, confidentiality, vulnerable adults, child protection, and patient rights.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques and strong communication skills.
Understanding of Minnesota resources for inpatient, outpatient, and supportive care related to mental illness and chemical dependency.
Licenses & Certifications
Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC) in the State of Minnesota – Required upon hire
