Job summary:

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking outstanding applicants for clinical health sciences track addiction psychiatry faculty position with clinician-educator or clinician-scholar interests. The successful candidate's clinical focus will be aligned with one or more areas of clinical expertise in the department, including, but not limited to board specialization in general adult and addiction psychiatry, as well as addiction medicine.

In addition, the successful candidate's clinical setting can include inpatient and outpatient, including intensive outpatient programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach medical students, interns, residents, and fellows, which may include lecturing and mentoring in our various educational programs, embracing culture of excellence and innovation, and have interest in clinical scholarship within the Department.

  • This position is full or part-time, 50%-100%
  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
  • This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with JR10002906 Addiction Psychiatrist (Clinical Track); please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two job postings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Teach medical students, interns, residents, and fellows.

  • CHS Track: Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

  • Provide psychiatric care for a variety of addiction psychiatry and medicine patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Compensation:

Negotiable, 12 month

Required qualifications:

  • Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry.
  • Successful completion of a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry.
  • WI Medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in Adult or Child/Adolescent Psychiatry by start date of position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by start date.

Preferred qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Education:

MD or DO, or equivalent is required.
