Additive Manufacturing Manager
Are you ready to shape the future of manufacturing at one of the world's largest furniture companies? Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a visionary Additive Manufacturing Manager to lead our cutting-edge AM operations and transform how we design, prototype, and produce. This is more than a management role—it's an opportunity to build and scale a strategic business unit that will revolutionize our manufacturing capabilities across the enterprise.
As our Additive Manufacturing Manager, you'll command multi-site operations spanning Wisconsin and North Carolina, leading talented teams of Applications Engineers and Technicians while driving profitability, innovation, and enterprise-wide adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies.

What Makes This Role Exciting:
Strategic Impact: You won't just manage operations—you'll architect the future. Develop comprehensive strategies that align with corporate objectives while establishing AM as a profitable, value-generating business unit.
Multi-Site Leadership: Direct operations across multiple locations, building scalable models that can be deployed enterprise-wide as we expand our additive manufacturing footprint.
Innovation at Scale: Research, evaluate, and implement emerging AM technologies and materials that keep Ashley at the competitive forefront of manufacturing innovation.
Entrepreneurial Opportunity: Identify and develop revenue-generating opportunities, optimize costs, and create business cases that transform AM from a support function into a profit center.
Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate with senior leaders across Automation, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Design, R&D, and Purchasing—serving as the primary voice for AM capabilities throughout the organization.

Your Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans that drive business growth and profitability
  • Manage budgets, forecast performance, and build pathways to departmental profitability through revenue generation and operational excellence
  • Create compelling business cases and ROI models for capital investments in equipment and infrastructure
Operational Excellence
  • Direct day-to-day operations across Wisconsin and North Carolina laboratories, ensuring consistent quality and performance standards
  • Optimize resource allocation—personnel, equipment, materials, and budget—to maximize productivity and ROI
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for efficiency, quality, utilization, project delivery, and financial performance
Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Applications Engineers and Technicians
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional excellence
  • Drive performance management that elevates individual and team capabilities
Technology & Innovation
  • Research and evaluate emerging AM technologies, materials, and processes
  • Establish enterprise-wide standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Oversee equipment selection, acquisition, and optimization to build comprehensive manufacturing capabilities
Enterprise Integration
  • Drive adoption of AM capabilities across all Ashley Furniture locations
  • Lead organizational change management to embed design-for-additive-manufacturing principles
  • Communicate value proposition and strategic vision to executive leadership and stakeholders
Business Growth
  • Identify cost avoidance projects, lead time reduction initiatives, and revenue opportunities
  • Implement cost controls, optimize material usage, and reduce waste
  • Analyze and optimize end-to-end value streams from concept through production
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies
  • Establish quality management systems that drive consistent standards and continuous improvement
