Title: Data Centers

Credits: 3 (2+3)
Prerequisite: CSAI 252
This course prepares students for employment in data centers or companies supporting data center operations. It covers:
- Importance and evolution of data centers
- Core components and how they work
- Types of data centers (enterprise, managed-services, cloud-based, colocation, edge, hyperscale)
- Infrastructure (Tier I–IV data centers)
- Management (facilities, asset/inventory, monitoring, technical support, energy efficiency)
- Security and safety in data centers
- Data center vs. cloud vs. server farm
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in data center technologies, infrastructure, and management.
- Prior teaching experience at the university level is preferred.
- Industry experience in data center operations is an asset.
