The Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Nursing at Hofstra University beginning in the Spring 2025 semester. Rank of Adjunct Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is based on educational degree obtained, years of experience as an instructor and research, as outlined by Hofstra University’s CBA. Teaching load varies, depending on availability and need. Typically, adjunct faculty can expect to instruct one or two courses per semester. The School of Nursing welcomes applications in nursing, pharmacy and perfusion medicine.
Hofstra’s graduate and undergraduate nursing programs leverage the clinical and educational resources of both Hofstra University and Northwell Health, New York state’s largest healthcare provider and private employer. The School of Nursing offers Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs and Advanced Certificate programs in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), as well as a dual Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist/Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program. Our Bachelor of Science with major in nursing program, founded in 2021, prepares nurse generalists to be providers, innovators, leaders, managers, and coordinators of care, as well as ethical members of the nursing profession. Our Master of Science Cardiovascular Sciences and Perfusion Medicine degree program is committed to the education, mentoring and professional development of future cardiovascular perfusionists.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing instruction to Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Nursing Practice in the Department of Nursing
- Demonstrating competence in teaching
- Creating innovative curricula utilizing experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory
- Engaging in community service above and beyond faculty requirements
- Engaging in lifelong learning as evidenced by participation in professional and faculty development
- Evidence of progressive participation and leadership of national/international professional organizations
- Maintaining clinical/professional experience in the field of accreditation of undergraduate and graduate-level programs, namely on Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Committee-Perfusion Education (AC-PE)
- Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students
